One More Time - The “Leader Of The Free” World Tries To Talk

by Arno on February 29, 2008

Are the people in the room laughing at his humor or is it more like me laughing at a drunk guy at the bar that’s making an ass out of himself? At some point he actually says to a journalist “nice try though”. It’s quite obvious he’s really just mocking the entire press corps. That type of behavior always scares me because I always think he must know something we don’t know and that they maybe have bad things in store for the run up to the election.

Russian Nuclear Bombers Intercepted

by Arno on February 28, 2008

I’m not surprised Putin is making sure that we (the US) don’t forget they’re armed to the teeth. The Cold War is over, however Reagan is dead, and so are any commitments towards disarmament. We’re heading towards difficult times, with Dictators and Despots all over the world and now I’d like to ask John McCain who seems to be keen on waging War until eternity…how are you going to go go War without an army?

How I Hate Monopolies and Florida Power and Light

by Arno on February 27, 2008

Why is it that everywhere I live there’s a power company that holds a 100% monopoly? This article is for everyone that’s sick of having to deal with companies such as Florida Power and Light that hold a monopoly on their market.

Last year in August I moved. When I moved in, I inquired with the landlord how much the electrical costs were per month. I was told that the cost was around ~$180.00 per month. In reality, the first power bill we received was well over $500.00. What the landlord had neglected to tell me was that he rarely used the A/C and that the unit actually was extremely inefficient in the way it cools the house. For those of you that don’t live in the tropics, having to run the A/C is exactly like having to run the heat all year around.

Seeing that my budget is rather tight I had problems coming up with the money on time in the beginning. I had enrolled in their auto pay system, however due to a mistake on their end, one of my payments wasn’t charged to my account and I got kicked off the auto pay system. Ironically the ‘auto pay’ system was setup like this: You go online, enter all your information in their account manager, schedule the payment but then you have to call them up anyway to make sure the payment was made. I didn’t grow up in this country so I guess I have a different understanding of the word ‘automatic’. Where I grew up, it literally means that the action will be taken automatically, otherwise it’s referred to as ‘manual’ but again - my non comprehension of this concept may be attributed to my difference in upbringing.

After my auto bill pay failed, I was forced to pay cash only, everytime the bill was due. No offense, but out of all the items I have to take care of running to some payment location isn’t exactly a good way to spend my time. Now where I’m current on all my payments, I don’t owe a dime - they are now forcing me to pay a $750.00 deposit. I don’t have that money, nor do I understand what they’re trying to accomplish with this. If I’m constantly short, how would I come up with this deposit? This deposit sits in a bank and probably gains interest and it’s locked for 2 years!!!

So here I am, not quite sure what to do. I’m considering changing the name on the account to get around this, or maybe calling a TV station and start a complaint about the tactics that are being used by FPL. Fact is this - they have the monopoly - there are no alternatives and the last time I checked you do need power to get by in life. Am I the only person that finds something wrong with this?

FOX News: Fest of Ignorance

by Arno on February 27, 2008

I am so glad there’s finally someone with enough pubic hair to call FOX News out on live television. If everyone would just do what this guy did, we’d all be off a lot better. It’s this whole notion of not wanting to create friction anywhere, being scared to offend.

Right Wing Dating

by Arno on February 21, 2008

right wing dating

I’ve seen this type of BS on Air America too so please don’t think I’m singling out the right wingers. It is pretty obvious to see how much more market driven all Fox News sites are for their respective anchors. From Bill O’Reilly who whores everything from coffee mugs to books over to Sean Hannity who’s webpage looks so fascist to me it’s not even funny anymore. They all seem to have one main goal, which is cashing in.

Why Experience Isn’t Needed To Be President

by Arno on February 20, 2008

It’s 6:24 AM and I’m watching Morning Joe on MSNBC. Joe Scarborough, although I don’t agree with his arguments most of the time, is at least someone I can listen to because he’s credible. He served in the Florida State Congress, why he left and landed on MSNBC I don’t know. What I do know is this. George W. Bush had less experience in Politics than my Mom does with computers and my Mom can barely move her mouse over the screen without causing severe errors.

Spy Sattelite Shoot Down Pretext For Martial Law?

by Arno on February 19, 2008

At first glance one might say Come On!?!? - how far fetched is that. Under normal conditions, in peaceful times, yes, I agree. Those aren’t the times we live in though. We live in a time where a group of NeoCons is trying to further their agenda. As I’ve written in past articles, I’m almost to the point where I don’t believe the mission for Iraq was ever stability, it was and is chaos.

Keith Olbermann Special Comment: MR BUSH YOU ARE A FASCIST!

by Alligazm on February 16, 2008

As I’ve said before it took me way too long to find Keith Olberman but man he is getting better and better out of my point of view. Nobody on TV only dares to say the things he does and how he manages to sit at a table with Chris Matthews I don’t know.

Don’t Believe The Hype

by Arno on February 15, 2008

We’re at war and if the wimps that call themselves democrats want to keep us from getting into a war with Iran they better grow some balls quickly. I’m reading more and more articles on the internet from various credible sources such as Scott Ritter that the situation is dire. Just yesterday I read an article on alternet.org about Daniel Ellsberg who was instrumental in the release of the pentagon papers. There was actually a movie about this in 2003 with the same title. The movie shows how Ellsberg was at first a staunch supporter of the war but when it became clear to him that many of the facts about the Vietnam War were being kept from the American public, he leaked the pentagon papers to the press and it was made public what a mess this war really was.
