Before I lay into this topic let me say I barely know Williams. I didn’t grow up in this country and for the years I’ve been here I don’t waste my time with talk shows like his and others so I’m not 100% in the know when it comes to his repertoire. What I did find on the net about him was that he handed it to Fox news as shown in this video and for that alone he should be my hero, but he really isn’t.

I understand that Montel has Multiple Sclerosis which is a very debilitating disease and I feel a great deal of compassion for people suffering from it. That doesn’t change the beef that I have with him and the Orange bus that he travels across the US with to deliver drugs to people. First off, I have no problem with hand outs of drugs whatsoever, I wish there more of it..hahahaha. The problem I have is of course the fact that we live in a country where that’s even a necessity. If you took a Bus and drove through Germany and started to hand out medication I think most people would laugh at it. I can just imagine people thinking whether the Gypsies got a bus or something.

The real issues here of course is the following. The pharmaceutical companies are handing out medication which to them I bet doesn’t cost anything. What does cost money though is advertising and how better to make people think that our Pharmaceutical companies are trying to help our society than taking someone like Montel and going around the company on a Samaritan mission. I think it’s a joke, a complete joke. A joke that’s not that funny to most. Again, please understand that if I were someone without health coverage and low financial status I would thank the heavens for this bus. I’m not in this situation though so I can’t help point out that this is a mere PR campaign. Let’s face it – the pharmaceutical companies which supposedly are working tirelessly every day to find cures for the diseases of today are in reality only interested in one thing: profit.

Similar to oil companies I think it’s safe to say that pharmaceutical companies don’t have a whole lot to worry about currently. They’ve got our government completely locked down by lobbyists and any real help for our society is no more than hope on the horizon.

What if I for example (not that I’m famous enough to gain any traction) went around the Nation in a tank trunk and started handing out fuel to people that can’t afford it? Great idea right? But would you think that Exxon and Shell are in some way to be given credit for handing out this oil? It’s a resource they swim in so what’s the big deal that they hand it out for free to the people they make their profits from?

Rather than going around the country in a bus, I think Montel should show some real conviction and raise attention to the fact that many people are not insured which is why they even need the drugs to begin with!
