Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa stands side by side with neighbouring Mt Meru on the relatively flat plains of the East African Plateau. Mt Kilimanjaro is an amalgamation of three extinct volcanoes Shira, Kibo and Mawenzi whose creation has been associated with the creation of the Great Rift Valley over 100kms to the west. The first person to climb Kilimanjaro was Professor Hans Meyer, a German geographer, in 1887. His goal to reach the summit didn’t end successfully on the first time of trying as the thick ice and snow were too much for him and his partner Baron Von Eberstein to navigate, who also had severe trouble with altitude sickness. The following year Meyer returned with a brand new team and more advanced equipment to deal with the harsh conditions that brought his previous trip to an unexpected halt. This time they were successful and Hans Meyer was the first person ever to set foot on Africa's highest summit.

Mt Kilimanjaro was created by catastrophic movements in the earth’s crust that eventually formed what we know today as the Great Rift Valley which runs from the Red Sea through Tanzania and on into Southern Africa. Although the rift valley is still active today, the Kilimanjaro region is'nt, as climbing Kilimanjaro would be exceptionally dangerous should it erupt whilst hikers were on it. The last form of seismic activity to grace Kilimanjaro was around 750,000 years ago where both the Shira and Mawenze vents collapsed and merged into one creating Kilimanjaro.

In the not too distant past the majority of Kilimanjaro’s peak was covered with snow, all the way down to 4,000ft but sadly now much of this has melted away due to global warming leaving just a small fraction of the glacier that was once so prevalent in this region. Scientists predict at the current rate of melting, the ice sheet is set to disappear in 20 years’ time.

Meyers snow plow with power angle, will not angle to the left, has an E47 pump unit?

Teh plow will angle to the right but will angle back to the left (leaving the blade away from the drivers side bumper). I tried to push againest a curb to get the overide to let the blade push back but would not let it come abck. Then I tried to angle while pushing agianest the curb and it did angle under that condition but when I tried again it still would not angle to the left normally. Any suggestions.

Its not the pump, its the electric solenoid for left hand operation. You'll need a test light and someone to help you. (unless you have a really long remote) As you push the left control, find the wire that's hot at the valve body. replace that control valve. Feel free to e-mail me
