Vauxhall, Opel and Holden, they are all really the same?
Vauxhall throughout its history has attempted cars in the yards of dealers that are attractive for buyers and, most importantly, affordable. They have strong competition in this role however, particularly the U.S. company Ford, although British Leyland provided serious competition for many years. The first Vauxhall factory was opened by Alex Wilson, however, the cars were the first elements out of line production, was originally pumps and engines were the mainstay of Vauxhall trade. It was not until 1903 when the first cars released in the course of the dealers.
Although the company began as a British operation owned and run this soon changed in twenty years Vauxhall was bought by American Motors car manufacturing giants General. The decision to sell affect the design and sale Car for future generations, while attaching its new European counterpart Opel Vauxhall. The purchase price of two pounds and a half million dollars This amount has been blocking the company GM, bag and baggage, factories, distributors and all assets. Unfortunately, the parent company is less likely to inspire thought before conception and the cars were a bit dull and boring, like their American and European counterparts.
While GM bought Vauxhall in 1925 by supporting the production and management of the company, it was not until four years after the U.S. giant has decided to buy the German Opel. Since then, the two companies, dealers and employees are intertwined, producing cars were virtually identical in design and construction. Opel are common throughout Europe and is considered to be the strongest brand of GM in Europe. However, the Opel works have always rejected the name change for the sake of homogenization, fiercely attached his own identity as a British manufacturer. However almost all models produced by the two companies have almost the same, only with different names and little different style. One example is the Opel Kadett, which in Britain has been labeled the Astra. The name of the latter was apparently more popular that two companies have adopted the modern variant.
He said Britain had Opel dealers in place, sell models almost identical those of Vauxhall. However, this changed in the seventies and eighties in the beginning, when GM decided to embarrass dealers UK Opel Opel recent sale in the UK in 1988. Opel, however, are still sold in Ireland as the inverse of the closing happened in this country. Vauxhall dealers were closed or simply take over by Opel in four years. The reason behind this movement was the duplication and GM simply making the competition themselves. Today, two car market operators with the same name and design, although the prefix is of course different.
Another sister of two Holden Vauxhall and Opel is mainly present in Australia. Once again, this time was a company independent, but was bought by GM in 1931. This company has a number of models designed by their European counterparts, but retained some of their independence by marketing high-power models for the area of race. The newest is the Commodore, the first car entirely designed and built by the company for over thirty years. It is clear that Holden has managed to maintain independence both in the field of GMOs.
Vauxhall has struggled to keep its independent status as a GM subsidiary. But the property of the parent company has ensured its powerful survival in the automotive sector in the UK has declined since the mid-XX. Car dealers in today's gas stations due to both for GM because they are the work of Alex Wilson over a century.
