AT&T: How Corporations Are Selling Out The American People

by Arno on July 1, 2008

I’m currently so filled with anger at what’s going on that I often don’t even write because I feel that the people that do read this page are already on the “right” side of things, excuse the pun. I’m just going to pretend that you don’t know about the fact that the main Telecommunications companies in the US, mainly AT&T haven taken our data and handed it over to the government. One of the only companies who resisted this was Qwest Communications, who’s CEO surprisingly got accused of insider training and where there is no apparent proof for this theory, many believe that this was some type of retaliation of the government.

The issue that needs the most attention is the fact that the existing laws already give the government enough freedom. As you can read here it’s clearly laid out that you can do the following: Determine a potential target, start conducting surveillance and then retro actively get the court order to allow this. Also, in the past I think there has been up to “1″ refused request that was handed in pro actively. So one more time, let this go through your head. The Feds get a tip and decide that they have to tap my phone and immediately start installing the listening devices. They can then listen in on my communications for a week before they even have to call anyone to find out whether what they’re doing is legit. That rule wasn’t enough for the Bush government though, they expanded upon it and actually went as far as getting the telecommunications companies involved.

According to existing laws, telecommunications companies are not allowed to hand over their data, unless ordered to do so by a certain list of officials within the Department of Justice. This actually happens to be one of the main contentions in this case. Where it’s of course completely selling out the American people, it doesn’t appear to have been bullet proof in terms of the actual legal reasoning behind it. Bush and his fellow crooks and liars are bending every law so fit their needs, however it seems that the case for the FISA is rather shaky, since they didn’t even follow the rules they said exempted the Telco’s from this law.

It’s just great to know that not only do we all screwed over by telecommuncations companies, we are now actually paying them so they can listen in on our conversations. Just a little side note, if you are reading this and shrugging your shoulders where the problem lays with the government spying on its citizens, I strongly suggest you back to Middle School and go for that graduation you always dreamed of. Beyond that I also suggest turning off the TV just for one day and gathering your own information for a change. It’s amazing what your own thought process can do in terms of understanding.

I guess it’s time to start some type of campaign to boycott AT&T and everything they do. I believe it was our so called Leader that once said “you’re either with us or against us”. What side do you stand on AT&T? Obviously not the side of the people. Krupp, Thyssen, Faber-Castell - those are just some of the companies that financed Hitler’s War, George W. Bush’s grandfather was actually involved in it too. Just like war profiteers were convicted during WWII (not Bush’s daddy because it was passed later unfortunately) the companies that betray us should be brought down. Nothing matters more to a corporation than a negative media campaign. Maybe I should try and start bombing the directories with new posts about how the new iphone will come equipped with an NSA tracker that will monitor you through your phone. What an idea….
