Why Helping Georgia Is Dangerous

by Arno on August 25, 2008

For days all you see on the news is the coverage about Barack’s Vice Presidential Pick and I’m trying really hard here but my interest in the presidential campaign went away a while ago. It would be something else if everything was fine in this country, and I would probably also not mention anything if we weren’t at War with a country that never attacked us. On top of that violence is starting to flare up again in the country that warranted exclaiming the fact that the mission was accomplished. In retrospect all Bush accomplished on that day on the air craft carrier was to get out of the plane.

What’s really getting lost in all this, is the fact that the West is moving dangerously close to Russia. We’re ignoring the threat of Korea, we just kicked the bees nest called Islam in the middle East by invading Iraq and now we have Navy War Ships supplying aid relief to the displaced Georgians. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for humanitarian aid I just wish this aid would be applied to the American people first. Considering how far Georgia is from the United States and also taking into account that our own people in Louisiana never enjoyed this type of assistance, doesn’t anyone think it’s slightly peculiar that we’re helping a foreign nation so eagerly?

I personally think it’s suspicious, and definitely an alarming sign. George Bush may have looked Putin int he eyes when he met him and claimed to have seen his soul, however I think that Putin must have looked back into George Bush’ eyes and thought to himself what a dumbass he is. I highly doubt that Russia is taking the United States very seriously at the moment, even though George somehow thinks we’re friends with them.

Another thing I believe very strongly, is that the Cold War wasn’t won because anything special Ronald Reagan did, it was all just a matter of economics. We outspent the former Soviet Union so the Cold War stopped. Russia recently demonstrated that it’s “back in business” and if you ask me, we’re moving straight towards a new episode in that chapter of history. I think this country and the world are grossly underestimating Russia’s potential and mainly its threats. Korea is half way across the world and hardly anything to really have to worry about. With Russia’s ability and recent show of strength to point ICMB’s towards Europe we’re witnessing a new build up of strength and it wouldn’t surprise me if the high price of Oil has helped Russia with this. Aside from the fact that we already had over 1,200 troops in Georgia at the time the crisis begun, we now have War Ships just off their coast. It’s all a bad situation and where I understand that Georgians needs relief, we’re dealing with a larger picture here which goes a lot deeper than just simply delivering Humanitarian Aid.
