Wuss

This post isn’t about media, a video or something else I found on the vast world of the internet. Today I’m going to talk about the non-confrontational conforming individuals I have to deal with every day.

I work in a mid-size corporation and am surrounded by highly technically skilled people. Network operations, Technology experts, you name it - all kinds of people around me that I consider at least semi educated. Of course being able to work with technology definitely doesn’t mean you have some kind of political horizon or have the courage to state your opinion in front of others.

One of the people I work considers himself a “history buff”. So I said to him, well since you’re such a history buff you will know why its inherently ignorant, irresponsible and idiotic to attack Iran right? His answer was “don’t you think Iran is a threat?” I quickly replied by saying that in my busy day I allot very little, if no time at all to the ‘rising threat of a nuclear iran’. As a matter of fact, I told him that it hadn’t even crossed my mind once. The reason for my not worrying is of course the fact that I also am a history buff and history clearly shows me to pick other serious threats.

I feel like I’m regurgitating everything here because I’ve read all this over and over again and there really is no argument for me however I have to keep reminding myself that most people really don’t pay any attention to the fact so it warrants my repeating it again. For those history buff’s out there, do me a favor and look up how long we lived with a nuclear soviet union. How many warheads were pointed at us at any point in time?

Iran doesn’t even have nuclear weapons yet, that’s the funny part. Pakistan does and boy does that country look like a pile of feces waiting to jump into a fan.

If I’m having a discussion with someone about a topic and their first comment is an exact line from either CNN or Fox or any of the other “news outlets” I consider that discussion over.

On to the point I was actually trying to make here which is the fact that people are scared to talk about politics. Everything is so polarizing nowadays that nobody wants to come out and say how they stand. Tried to get into a discussion with one of my superiors and where I started out by saying “no matter where you stand politically you must be able to agree that” I could tell very soon that he wasn’t at all interested in “going there”. Let’s face this fact: we have lots of people in this country that are working in corporations like the one I do and they’re making good amounts of money. My assumption is that they didn’t get to where they are in life by acting up and showing they have some balls. In reality what the probably did was kiss everyone’s ass on their career path so they could live the kind of life they want. A life of shiny prosperity and showing others that one has “made it”. A life of playing by the rules and not complaining or being heard.

That’s it for this rant.
