Keep It Up Joe, Jim And All The Rest Of You

I love the Daily Show. If you’ve never watched it, you’re missing out. Many other media heads like to criticize the Daily Show for the fact that they’re not really covering news, that they’re not really giving political commentary and you know what? Those people are right, after all it’s comedy not politics. It’s very easy to understand the success of this show, if you look at our media landscape today. There isn’t a single news show on TV that gives you the dry facts. Every piece you see is usually followed my special commentators that are supposedly experts in the field but at the end of the day have you really gotten any valuable information from TV? No. If you want to get “real” information you have to turn to independet sources such as Democracynow.org where I truly believe unbiased reporting is at the core of this mission objective.

Let’s get back to Jon Stewart and Jim Cramer though. Check out the video below and watch how Cramer takes a beating from Stewart, from one clip to the next, it’s almost painful to watch.

Click here to watch the original -- somehow comedy central’s player embed code isn’t jiving with my template and I’m too lazy to figure that out right now.

Brutal right? One clip after another of evidence where what Cramer says, and what he’s done is just completely out of wack, there is no connection between the two. The bad part here is that it just simply doesn’t matter what he says -- he’s outrageous, sounds like he knows what he’s talking about and that’s really all that matters to CNBC. Just like CNN took on Glenn Beck who’s obviously a complete fool, CNBC figured hey let’s get a guy on here that can cause some ruckus. Only problem is of course that Jim Cramer, much unlike Glenn Beck is on a show that is supposedly trying to deliver financial advice to their viewers. A noble concept really if you think about it and if they lived up to such a standard, it might actually work. The problem is that these numb wits, just like the idiots over at Fox NEWS are simply not the right people we should have on news shows, whether it’s the world politics, financial advice or any other topic that in some way effects or can effect our lives.

What all of these shows have to start asking themselves is this: are you truly delivering a service to the American people or are you just a noise in a shiny box. If you want to convey the notion that you actually have some credibility, you have to be credible. A great example of how inferior so many people are to Jon Stewart and the Daily Show is Joe Scarborough, himself also an example of someone who gets several hours of air time per day to spew the bullshit that he does. Him and his partners Willy Geist laughed at the guy being tasered, said he deserved it. People like those two cheer on Guantanamo Bay and they give justification to many ignorant people out there to act the same way. In a pathetic display of how defenseless Joe Scarborough is to those who can pretty much say whatever they want on their show, watch how he tears into Jon Stewart for “cherry picking” his topics and accusing him of not having anything else better to do than attack Jim Cramer since Bush left office. Look at the faces of the others they show in this clip. They’re literally all scratching their heads thinking “Joe, shut up -- your criticizing a comedian -- we’re journalists”.

So here we are -- the make-belief journalists, are getting their panties wet because a comedian gets to call them out on how crappy of a job they’re been doing over the past 10 years. Why else would Comedy Central be such a successful show? Because the “real” news shows are simply not doing their job. Why else do more people say they get their news from the Daily Show? Pathetic? Yes -- but for who? I submit to you that Joe Scarborough and all the rest of them pretty much dug their own holes with their performances in the past and they are continuing to do so. But to seriously think they have any way of criticizing Jon Stewart without looking like a complete ass, that’s just hillarious. Keep it up Joe![ad#links]
