Am I the only thinking that the fund raiser for Louisiana held during the Republican Convention is a complete scam? I’m happy for the people of Louisiana for every help they can get, especially from those people who stood by while American citizens drowned. Those same Republicans that are now pretending to be so compassionate, are the exact same people that kept turning away from Louisiana when Katrina hit exactly three years ago.
To this day, many areas remain unmaintained, hospitals are kept closed that were never decontaminated. When we were attacked on 9/11, we lost over 3,600 people and in retaliation for the loss of life, started a war first in Afghanistan, and then Iraq. Over 1,800 people died horrific deaths in Louisiana, waiting desperately for the help that never came. Patients were left to die in hospitcals because the staff had no other choice. The Superdome was filled shortly after the disaster because people simply had no place to go. As a result of the disaster, many people were evacuated to other states, such as Texas. In Texas, Barbara Bush had these lovely words to say:
What I’m hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them.
..and now Laura Bush is standing up at the podium of the Republican National Convention asking delegates and supporters for donations to help the region.
Here’s the deal - Yes, the region needs money however this staged fake show of compassion really make me want to throw up. Where were all those GOP members over the past three years? They should be ashamed of themselves and I hope everyone realizes what a scam operation the GOP is. George Bush and the GOP let Louisiana drown, they never have cared, nor will they ever care what happens to those people in this nation that aren’t as affluent as they are.
Just once I would like to see a reporter have enough stamina to ask any GOP member that participated during the Fund Raiser the following question: “So where were you three years ago when Louisiana needed you? What have you done to help the region since the disaster and how can you could you have the audacity of making it seem like you care now?”
Boy this topic makes me so mad I can barely contain myself.
