Ok here’s the deal. So I’m coming home from whatever - drivin’ down I-95 heading towards Hallandale Beach blvd and where I usually never take the actual exit for Hallandale - that night I had a brainfart and got off there anyway. Why not got off on that exit? Well it’s quite simple - everyone now and then the local law enforcement agency conducts DUI checkpoints where they direct alltraffic into the police station and then have every car undergo a checkup.
So at some point I’m next in line and the police officer leans into my window, telling me that this was a routine DUI checkpoint they did every now and then whereupon I replied “..so how’s that workin’ out for ya?” not sure if I set the tone for the rest of the proceedings - you be the judge.
Anyway so the officer tells me to pull into this parking spot located right next to him - I comply. He then asks me for the second time whether I’ve had anything to drink and I answer “No Sir” - he asks me again whether I’m sure and I again assure him of the fact that I had not had any alcoholic beverages. I even offered to do a breathalizer test - also not sure whether that helped out my situation. Next thing I know the officer is making hand gestures and calling over to one of the other officers “Get the dog over here…” - few moments later a moustached officer with what looked like a black lab entered the arena - set the dog off on the car and the dog quite honestly went ballistic. Actually this was to my great surprise as I had cleaned the car with great detail just a few days prior to this incident. What I didn’t realize at that point - nor did the officers I think - is the fact that the car was full of cat hair - from an earlier Feline-Transport mission.
While the dog is trying to sniff the hell out of everything in the car - the officer that had initially told me to pull out of the line was searching me. Had to take off my shoes, socks, he started grabbin’ all around my genitals - I offered to take off my pants but was told that wouldn’t be necessary. Then another officer standing near me said “Oh well you know what we haven’t had any complaints of physical abuse yet tonight” - I decided to just make a mental note of that comment and not to vocalize my thoughts - wise decision I think. Next the officer with the dog comes to me, lets the dog get a good wiff of me and sure enough - the dog is crazy about my clothes too. The officers, obviously frustrated for not having found anything started to corner me. The K-9 officer came disgustingly close to me and told me that I was one of those ’smart guys’ and in addition to that he recommended me not pushing his buttons. I replied “Sir I’m not aware of what crime I’m being accused” - the officer started getting loud telling me I had 30 seconds to tell him what the f**k was going on - where I had tossed out the drugs, etc. I repeated my initial claim that I didn’t have anything on me before entering the complex nor did I have any on me now. I was then told in less than a polite way I must say - that with the dog going off alone and hair samples they could put me to jail. Oddly enough they then decided to go ahead and just write me a citation for not having a florida drivers license yet after having been driving in the state for 1 1/2 years.
Now I’m looking back at this event and and on the one hand side of course we can feel anger towards the police officers. But I decided to take a different approach at the situation. I figured this: the police officer that conducted the search of the car with the dog had a speech impediment and what he really was trying to do was get a drug-bust-bonus. In other words a special cash bonus reward for busting someone for drug possession.
The idea was for him to bust enough totally harmless drug consumers for him to raise enough money to attend a speech class. In the end he was just trying to better himself and saw no other means but using bonuses to pay for his endeavour. I figure that the officer that initially told me to park to get searched must also have had an experience that motivated him to go hard on me. Most probably his wife had been injured by a stoned driver and she ended paralyzed from the hip down. So all he was trying to do was raise money for his wife’s trust fund which was setup for his kids’ college fund and for her medical costs.
What I take away from this night is the fact that I really should have turned around and loaded up my pockets and driven straight into the DUI checkpoint again and find those two officers so they could bust me. I feel guilty…

Sounds like the police officer that arrested me, he was soo scared that he stopped a whole car distance away from me, that he arrested me for aggrivated assult, I still have yet to understand how stopping in front of someone could be called a assult on someone,
Oh well they are the police and they love and protect us. Maybe we should donate more money and have them buy newer and fancier cars and toys, I feel so much safer knowing that their motorcycles are all nice and chromed, its nice seeing them doing their shopping in those nice gas guzzling beasts, and I’m glad we pay for the gas they use up as they speed down my neighborhood, where the kids like to play.
I love the fact that we should be calm, as a complete stranger walks up to my car with a gun all nice and loaded, I love the fact that somehow, through all the screening and intensive training, they are able to (with 100% accuracy) screen out the racist, pediphiles, perverts, theives, liers, haters, angry officers, WOW….and then give them a gun and a fancy fast car, Ohh yeah.. what race track do they practice to go twice the speed of the person they are chasing?
Oh well I guess we need them to sleep better at night, especially since we the people are sooo weak, and they do love us all of us, no matter what color or social status they treat us all the same.
Sorry for what you went through, and be grateful that you are of light skin and blonde hair, cause I really really believe, you would have been arrested and returned, broke and hungry (they love us remember) if your skin was darker.
maybe there is something to the fact that blacks and latinos are the minority on the streets and the majority in jail, but hey thats just a simple coincedence, and there is no such thing as racism, and the holocust really didn’t happen, and if we close our eyes it will never happen again.
Oh welll
